A commisioned essay in which Michener addresses a number of sensitive issues, such as race relations and education effceting not only Philadelphia but the United States at large with the goal of charting a course for the future. For example, he marvels at one point about the advances made in information retrieval but cautions: ”Our task will be to isolate the meaningful and use it to our betterment. ” Great advice for this computer information age.
